MGA 1600 MK II
Both sides of the grill surround at the top had cracks in them, which is typical in MGAs. Since the surrounding metal is work-hardened, we didn't just weld up the cracks. Doing so would just lead to a new crack nearby. Instead, we put a larger patch in the area. While we usually restore MGA sheetmetal exactly to factory specifications, this is one area where we don't: we added a doubler behind this area to further ensure a crack would not develop in the future. As you can see in the picture, we always test fit the grille throughout the process.
