This 1972 MGB came to us after experiencing a significant oil leak at the transmission. After inspecting the car thoroughly, we found a significant amount of shade tree mechanic repairs that needed to be addressed as well.
One of the most significant issues was that the dual-circuit brakes have been turned into a single-circuit system. The rear circuit on the master cylinder was cut off and crimped closed, a new line and T fitting installed, and the shuttle valve partially bypassed. Leaks at most of the connections were present as well. We will be correcting this and getting the brakes back to factory spec!
Another issue is collapsed springs, both front and rear. The front coil springs had “cheaters” installed to increase the ride height, and the rear leaf springs have home-made extended shackles to keep the rear end off the ground.
We will be correcting all of these issues, along with many others, along with solving the original problem of the leaking overdrive transmission.
