This car has been well-taken care of despite a long period of storage. Therefore, the dashboard and gauges were in pretty good shape. We’re recovering the dash with new material, so while the switches and gauges were out, we were able to clean most of them instead of replacing them or sending them to a gauge specialist.
The cases for the gauges were dirty and rusty, but the internals were good.
We bead blasted and painted the appropriate parts and cleaned up the bezels with chrome cleaner.
There is still a little patina in the gauge faces, but the customer and we prefer that to overrestored.
The switches got the same clean and test treatment. The wiper switch was bad, but we had a good used one to replace it.
We also cleaned up the windshield frame with chrome cleaner. It’s just mocked up right now as we have to upholster the dash top before putting it in for good.
