1967 Austin Healey 3000
This 1967 Austin Healey 3000 was recently restored by a specialty shop in Indiana. It still required some additional mechanical sorting, so the car has come to us for an inspection, evaluation, and some corrective measures.
The previous shop put DOT5 (silicone) hydraulic fluid in both the brake and clutch systems as a safety factor in case of leaks (DOT5 will not harm paint if it gets on the body panels). Unfortunately DOT5 causes natural rubber seals to swell, and it has already started swelling and damaging the seals in both master cylinders. We're completely purging the system, inspecting all of the components, and rebuilding or replacing parts as necessary.
