After spending some time cleaning up the engine bay we reinstalled the engine, hooked up all of the ancillaries, and installed the gearbox (with a new clutch) from below. All that’s left is to reassemble the interior around the transmission tunnel and this Alfa will be back on the road again!
The engine is clean and has had new gaskets and seals installed. It’s back together and ready to go back in the car. The next step will be to get it off of the engine stand to change out the rear main seal.
Because of the large amount of leaks, the entire front of the engine looked almost black. As you can see, some elbow grease along with some safety kleen (plus a drip tray) can do wonders for these Alfa Romeo blocks. Our parts have arrived. A new water pump, oil pump, complete gasket set and head…
Once we removed the engine, we mounted it to an engine stand and removed the cylinder head, front cover, and other items. While on the stand we’ll clean the engine with safety kleen and a brush.
