We work one side at a time to repair the sills and the floors. We start peeling away the layers of sills, rust, and previous repairs until we get down to the metal that is strong enough to weld to. With this car, that brought us back to the gearbox tunnel. We do not brace the door openings as we do this--we want them to be adjustable at this point so that we can get the doors and fenders aligned perfectly. Before welding new panels in, we refit the doors and fenders and begin adjusting gaps.
