1977 Fiat 124 Spider
With the head back we began reassembly of the top end. We bolted the cylinder head down (with the head gasket in place) and torqued it to factory spec. Once the head was installed we installed the cams and cam covers and measured valve clearances. Because of the machine shop work we ended up re-positioning several shims and ordering a few new ones.
While we were assembling the engine for valve shimming the new steering box arrived, so we took the opportunity to install it without having too much extra stuff in the way. Rebuild kits for these boxes are not available and the old box was bone dry and full of rust, so it was not servicable.
