In order to convert our front crossmember into a Twin Cam crossmember we needed to replace the standard MGA steering rack mounts with the Twin Cam-specific mounts. First we cut the existing mounts off our crossmember and prepped the surface. After carefully removing the Twin Cam mounts from our damaged crossmember we located their correct position on the new crossmember with the aid of a jig built specifically for this purpose. We welded the mounts on the frame and then test-fit the Twin Cam steering rack to ensure that everything was in the proper position. In the end the welds look factory-correct and will have more strength than the factory welds.
