1980 VW Bus

When this bus initially arrived at the previous shop it was running roughly. They took a look and discovered that the fuel filter was absolutely plugged with rust. A new filter was installed and it quickly got choked up as well.

With the engine out it was the perfect time to remove the gas tank and inspect it. We found it full of rust and sediment as well as a previous attempt at re-lining. Additionally the tank was not a very well-made piece and the gas cap did not fit correctly.

We still have the ability to have gas tanks boiled out, but with one of our suppliers making a beautiful reproduction tank that would cost less than any attempts to repair the old tank, we ordered up a new one. Once it was here we installed a new sender and installed the new tank in the bus.
