1977 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II
This beautiful 1977 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II arrived at our shop dusty and barely running. The owner had been experiencing poor running conditions approximately 3 years ago and it hadn't seen much mileage since. After washing the dust away we limped the car into the shop to begin our diagnosis.
The engine was extremely rich and pulling, cleaning and reinstalling the fouled spark plugs confirmed this when the engine roared to life briefly before choking on fuel again The jets were wildly mis-adjusted and we suspected other problems as well.. We set our sights on the pair of HIF-7 carburetors and began the long extraction process.
Unlike MGs, Triumphs or many other cars using SU carbs, these are not easily accessable and the entire intake assembly needed to be removed before we could even access the jet screws.
After flipping the carbs upside-down it was also evident that B bank carb had been leaking.
